Most of my email goes straight to the trash. Everything from artists and galleries stays in the inbox. By the end of the week I feel like I’ve driven around the county to see the latest, even when I haven’t had time to make it to my corner galleries.
An impressive array of shots has arrived via the ether recently, starting with the Morro Bay Art Association’s celebration of the Morro Bay National Estuary Program. Kathy Miller’s watercolor students will be featured through May 19 for the “Splashes of Light” exhibit at Art Center Gallery, 835 Main St., Morro Bay. The estuary program asks residents and visitors to pick up after their pets, pick up trash, watch their drains and turn off their taps. Sounds like a fair trade for enjoying the beauty of the estuary.
The news from Paso Robles comes from the Cutting Edge Fiber Arts Group of San Luis Obispo. The dozen members are displaying work through May 18 at Studios on the Park, 1130 Pine St., Paso Robles. “Fabrications II” features art quilts and fiber art embellished with dyes, paint, beads, yarn, silk-screening, batik and photography.

San Luis Obispo’s Gallery at the Network at 778 Higuera St. features assemblages and baskets in the “Unique Expressions” show through May 31. The six artists who specialize in decorative and functional include Ann Bonestell, April Stewart Daily, Claudia Davis, Beryl Reichenberg , Pat (Trish) Riley and Patience Simpson.
The tour continues to Los Osos to see “Earth Sea Sky” paintings by Lee Lawson at Edward Jones, 1236 (Suite J) Los Osos Valley Road through June 18. Drop by during business hours Monday through Friday.
We can’t forget to stop off in Atascadero where Olive Tree Fine Arts Gallery, 5850 Traffic Way, has been adding to its exhibit of underwater images.
“The images are a mix of mystery and beauty, surreal and dreamlike, but always include a bit of cinematic storytelling,” says Kabe Russell, one of the show’s photographers. Also featured in “H20 Two” are Dennis Jackson and Michael V. Messina. The exhibit runs through June 30.
