Sugar and vinegar don't seem like they'd go together, but obviously the Chinese were on to something when sweet and sour dishes first appeared during the Tang dynasty. That juxtaposition seems to hit our taste buds just right, and what it means to the 26 artists who turned in pieces to Studios on the Park's new exhibition, Sweet & Sour, was a matter of interpretation.

Sweet and Sour, a new group show at Studios on the Park in Paso Robles, premiered at the beginning of January and is scheduled to remain on display through the end of February. Participating artists in this exhibit were asked to submit artworks of various media, including painting, photography, and mixed media, that interpret the show's theme and title.

Think of Paso Robles as the middle child of the California wine scene. Nestled roughly halfway between the wine regions near Santa Barbara in the south and Napa to the north, it’s often overlooked. But with more than 200 wineries in the area producing a staggering 60 different varietals, it shouldn’t be.
