Over 100 artists participated in Saturday's main event

Memorial Day Weekend is just days away, and the Central Coast will be filled with events to kick start your summer.

Capturing beauty "Above the Grade" is the impetus for this month's Paso Robles Art Association Gallery show, open from May 1 to May 31 and featuring about 20 local artist at Studios on the Park.

Art imitating art, imitating life: a creative process that will be brought to exquisite fruition in the eighth annual Paso ARTSFEST, two cultural events hosted by Studios on the Park May 27 and 28.

They say art mimics life, but for one evening life will mimic art.

Throughout our lifetime, we create, view, and experience art in its many forms. Music soothes the infant while, nearby, a toddler dabbles with watercolors. A young boy finishes his dance lesson, then waits patiently as his sister, a teenager, discusses her latest sculpture with the gallery owner. A seasoned winemaker indulges in a culinary masterpiece prepared by a local chef and watches his daughter, a story-teller, entertain the crowd.

Students participate in 'Kids Art Smart Program' through Studios on the Park

Studios on the Park's Stitched Together exhibit features gowns fashioned from found objects and recycled materials, on view through April 24. Go to studiosonthepark.org for further details.

The Paso Robles Art Association's April show is currently on display inside the Studios on the Park in Studio #7 at, 1130 Pine Street, Paso Robles. The theme of the show is: Attitude. "It's about what the artist wants to show," said member artist Jeannine Bringman. The show opened on April 7 and will run until May 1.
