Sometimes it feels good to paint with abandon, skills be damned. But the resulting gloopy mess of paint is a bummer. Fear not, experience (guaranteed to turn out well) watercolor painting with Studios on the Park's COLORbar in Paso Robles. Create your own masterpiece by filling in an already prepared original design by resident artist Jordan Hockett. The $10 fee includes all materials (but no instruction) and supports Studios' essential arts services to local children and adults. The COLORbar is open through Sept. 30. Independence Day celebration raises $10,000 for local charities
Organizers of Paso Pops, this year's patriotic-themed concert and Independence Day celebration complete with fireworks sponsored by the Paderewski Festival in Paso Robles, delivered four checks to local non-profit youth arts programs totaling $10,000. The funds were raised from the 3,000 locals who attended the first-ever Paso Pops event on July 4th.

About six years ago, California native artist Erin Hanson couldn't even tell you where Paso Robles was on a map. Today, she's painted 300 landscapes of the agrarian (and steadily becoming trendy) town's rolling hills and sprawling vineyards.

"The Military Experience in Art: Protecting Freedom," will be at Studios on the Park from Aug. 6 to Aug. 28, featuring just a portion of the vast military art collections of the Estrella Warbird Museum and Camp Roberts Historical Museum.
Artful words
Art meets poetry at Studios on the Park in Paso Robles for Arte Poetica, an interactive talk on painting and poetry by Youssef Alaoui Fdili (pictured), Monalisa Malone, and Marnie Parker, Aug. 12 at 6:30 p.m. The poets will present their own work in addition to facilitating the discussion. Military art exhibit up in Paso Robles
Studios on the Park has an exhibit featuring selected works from the collections of Estrella Warbirds Museum and Camp Roberts Historical Museum. The artwork, which includes paintings and limited-edition prints, brings to life the eras of World War II, and Korean and Vietnam Wars. The paintings vary in style from oil to water color. The founder of the studio says the work aims to signify the honor of serving in war. "There's a unifying passion throughout that you can see through the pieces. For the honor and the duty, honoring the service members that participated in these wars." Anne Laddon, residence artist and studio founder said. The exhibit is available for viewing until August 28 and is free to attend.
