First Saturdays: Wine & the Arts in Paso Robles has undergone a branding makeover. Now called Art After Dark Paso, the event will run from 6 to 9 p.m. on the first Saturday of the month.
The self-guided art walk will continue to promote local galleries, wine tasting room and downtown businesses. According to Arts Obispo Program Director Lori Lerian, some visitors were confused by the old name, which did not reference the nighttime aspect.
“’Art After Dark’ is not only in San Luis Obispo, but across the country,” said Lerian. “Not only is it easier to say, but it more clearly identifies it as an art walk and better describes the event.”
Once scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m., the walk will now run later, till 9 p.m. Lerian said organizers are aiming to cater to their demographics.
“We’re seeing mostly visitors to the Paso area, although we do have some locals from Paso or the surrounding areas,” said Lerian. “It is an emerging, award-winning wine destination, and I think, what is starting to evolve in the downtown area, is that the arts are becoming equally known.”
During the monthly art walks, many art galleries tasting rooms and downtown businesses pour complimentary wine tastings for passersby. Music and food are also often provided as a special treat.
Lerian said Paso Robles is coming into its own as a hotspot for world class art, and the changes to its art walk reflect that.
“With Studios on the Park and the other galleries down there, Paso Robles offers a unique experience,” said Lerian. “Paso is truly becoming an art destination.”
The first Art After Dark Paso will take place on Saturday, Jan. 4. from 6 to 9 p.m. For more information, visit www.artsobispo.org or email email@example.com
