Wood engraving differs from other relief printing in that the prints are typically small. Wood engraving makes use of the end grain of woods rather than the plank as is used in traditional wood block printing. In this workshop you will learn how to carve on end grain, the use of engraving tools, and how to adapt your designs for wood engraving. We will be using end grain pear wood blocks and blocks made of castello boxwood.
Come with a 3” x 4” sketch or idea for your print. I will also have designs for you to work with. All tools and materials are provided.
