Peg Grady and Heidi Petersen have joined forces to examine turning points in the lives of people and animals.
Every life has moments that define the future... the minute you run into an old friend, reigniting a friendship which transforms into love...the day you get up in the morning, go to work, and hand in your two weeks notice... the breaking point when your species can no longer exist as your habitat is consumed or poisoned.
Peg Grady works in two dimensions on wood and canvas, with paint, ink, and plaster and has examined the small stories in a personʼs life that change everything. Her characters anticipate an adventure to come, boats await passengers, keys are returned, and highways beckon.
Using clay, metal and gold leaf, Heidi Petersen sculpts animals at or beyond the turning point. Rendered as functional items her sculptures focus on the demise of endangered and extinct species while reminding the audience of the role each of us plays in perpetuating over-consumption She poses the question, “Buy all you like, but at what expense?”
