The Eye of the Next Generation - Call to Artist

We would like to invite all youth photographers to join us for the upcoming exhibition The Eye of the Next Generation at Studios on the Park. In this exhibition, artists are encouraged to showcase their skills in the following categories: landscape, floral, animal, portrait, city/urban, and still life. Final photographs will be printed and framed by Studios on the Park. At the end of the exhibition, each student will receive his or her framed work to take home.

Studios on the Park is a nonprofit gallery and open studios art center in a prestigious location in downtown Paso Robles, California. We have featured world-class artists in our exhibitions for over 10 years. Paso Robles is recognized nationwide as a premier wine and culinary destination and we, through exhibitions like this one, contribute shows of curated, high quality artwork to this exciting cultural scene. We expect over 7,000 visitors to our 2000 sq. ft. atrium gallery space for this exhibition.

Art sales from these exhibitions also serve as fundraisers for our essential arts services to more than 100,000 students, families and visitors each year.

Please email us by February 11, 2022, with high resolution images of your work(s). Final show selections will be based on submissions received and available space.

TIMELINE

• Photo Submission Deadline: February 11
• Notification of Selected Work: February 11
• Opening Reception: March 5
• Pickup of Art: May 6 - 8

GUIDELINES

• No entry limit.
• Original photography must fit 8x10 frame (landscape or portrait)
• Photography must fit in one or more of the following categories: landscape, floral, animal, portrait, city/urban, and still life
• All artists must submit an exhibition form with each piece. If child is under 18, a parent/guardian must sign the form along with the student.

ENTRY PROCEDURE

• Curators will select submissions via online images only.
• Entries must be submitted digitally to sarah@studiosonthepark.org (High res jpeg/png) Please title each file name with the Artist’s last name, title of work and category, separated by an underscore. Example: Johnson_Horses_Animal.jpeg

PROMOTION

Studios will post images with artist/title/category of final selections on our website and social media.

CURATORS

Sarah Ambrose and Jordan Hockett will be looking for personal vision and creative approach as well as excellence in execution.

SALES

Studios collects a 40% commission on all sales. The youth artist would receive 60%. Proceeds from art sales bolster Studios’ arts services that help to make the Central Coast region a leader in creative culture, education and innovation. Among the many essential program and outreach efforts made possible is Kids Art Smart. We believe all children should have access to creative learning opportunities through the arts. With arts education cut from local schools, Studios on the Park provides free visual arts programming for thousands of K-12 grade students.

If a piece were to sell from the show, Studios on the Park will reprint and reframe the work to give to the participating student.
