About Roger Combs
A native of Central California, Roger graduated in 1982 from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo with a BA degree in Industrial Arts, with a concentration in furniture design and construction. His woodwork is distinguished by timeless design, seamless joinery, and fine finishes.
“I believe in creating functional art that combines good design with hand selected domestic and exotic hardwoods. Lumber is my palette – a variety of colors, textures, and grains that reveal themselves to me. The process of creating pieces begins by following the flow of the wood. I love the passion of feeling a piece coming together – rough cutting, final dimensioning, solid joinery, shaping, and diligent sanding to detail. Finally, I hand finish with numerous, nurturing coats of oils to enliven and preserve the wood. My pieces call out to be touched, caressed, and appreciated for a lifetime.”
Roger Combs is passionate about his craft. His love and respect of wood is evident in his attention to detail, and in his excellent hand-rubbed oil finishes. The beauty and sophistication of Roger’s furniture is enhanced by his use of natural materials that will always be in style. His sculptural, functional work is designed to be enjoyed for years to come.
