Inspired by a visit to Paso Robles High School by Sonia Nazario, Pulitzer Prize winning author of Enrique’s Journey, students in the Honors Dual Immersion (bilingual) World History class began discussing many issues surrounding immigration to the United States, particularly Paso Robles. Realizing that there were many newly arrived residents of Paso Robles who had migrated from other countries (especially Spanish-speaking ones), students decided to identify, interview and record stories of new immigrants to Paso Robles.
The history students have collaborated with students in Journalism 1 to shoot meaningful pictures of the immigrants along with objects that were significant in their journey. These pictures, along with their stories are on display in the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District Gallery.
