My recent work explores abstraction through layered color, texture, and gesture—paintings that merge intuition with refined control. What began as a fascination with paper has evolved into a deeper inquiry into surface and depth, where traces of earlier marks and materials remain visible beneath translucent veils of paint.
Influenced by Japanese aesthetics, I strive for balance between simplicity and complexity, restraint and spontaneity. Metallic washes, washi textures, and bold accents of red or black often appear, creating tension and harmony within each composition. The process is instinctive and physical—a dialogue between what’s revealed and what’s concealed.
Each piece is built through layering and refinement, inviting viewers to sense the history embedded within the surface. My goal is not to depict but to evoke—a resonance that draws the eye, quiets the mind, and rewards repeated viewing.
Lynn will be displaying her paintings in the Studios Front Window throughout the month of November.
