Meet our March Featured Artist: Dennis Curry! Dennis will be featured in our front window during the month of March, and his work can always be found in his Studio here at Studios on the Park.
"My career as a professional artist began as a fine art printmaker in 1970 creating works in various original print media. For 37 years I celebrated nature in media such as silk screen, etching, engraving and Mylar lithography.
In 1982 I made my fist trip to East Africa to study big cats and became captivated with the variety and abundance of the animals of the African savannah. In 1984 I co-founded Duma African Safaris with friend and publisher Christopher Law and for the next 14 years had the privilege of introducing clients to the wonders of East Africa.
Around 1999, I began creating more of my work in oils with a growing interest in local landscape. Always concerned with conservation, I do a lot of my painting in conjunction with conservation organizations contributing funds from the sale of my paintings as well as promoting their works.
I have been a resident artist at Studios on the Park in Paso Robles for over a decade where I maintain a gallery of my work, showing both my original graphics as well as my oil painting. Weekend visitors will generally find me at work in my gallery and may ask questions and view work in progress."
