I have always been fascinated by the weaving process but didn’t know how or where to start. After watching numerous videos about hand weaving, I purchased my first loom—a rigid heddle loom—and got started weaving. To my delight, I took to it fairly quickly. But maybe genetics has something to do with it. During an ancestry search I learned that one of my great-grandfathers was a weaver and another was a silk designer.
As I became more confident in my weaving, I was eager to try the multitude of designs in the weaving world. As much as I loved working on my rigid heddle, I knew I had to move on to a multi-shaft loom so I could weave all these wonderful designs. I now work on an 8-shaft table loom here in Studios and an 8-shaft floor loom in my home studio.
I enjoy not only weaving fabric but also using that fabric to construct beautiful garments.
Deb will be displaying her woven beauties in the Studios Front Window throughout the month of November.
