Since our inception, we have been sharing the art process with the young people in our community. From private lessons and school field trips to our COLORbar, to the Kids Art Smart corner; there’s always something fun and interactive for kids to do Studios on the Park!
Since 2011 more than 18,000 schoolchildren have visited Studios on the Park for hands-on professional art classes completely free of charge as part of our Kids Art Smart program. They have studied and created works of art in mediums such as marbilizing, sumi-e resist painting, watercolor, collage, sculpting, ceramics, and printmaking.
What began as an experiment resulting from a one-time grant from the Central Coast Wine Classic has developed into the heart and soul of our efforts to share the creative process with our community. Gifts from many other generous donors and volunteers enable us to continue to present the program to all six elementary schools in Paso Robles and now all elementary, middle and high schools in neighboring districts.
Ordinarily, Kids Art Smart students (55% of whom are considered low-income and at-risk*) receive little to no formal arts education. The result is a lost opportunity to develop creative thinking and personal expression. Kids Art Smart changes this. We are currently fundraising to ensure that even more students from local schools can experience the joy of art! Sponsor a child for $33 or a classroom for $900.

Education is a key focus for Studios on the Park, which seeks to explore and celebrate the creative process and promote critical thinking. The following offerings for students K-12 will help students and teachers to extend their learning experience above and beyond the classroom walls.
A school visit to Studios on the Park gives students the chance to experience the art of creation. Through artist-centered guided discussions Studios encourage students to develop critical thinking skills and foster an appreciation for works of art and the creative process. Students learn to look carefully at works of art, speak with resident artists, and share their ideas. This emphasis on analytic skills provides a vital support to art studies as well as other areas of the school curriculum - from observation, analysis, and problem-solving in science to conversation, vocabulary- building, and writing skills in language classes.
We offer three tour packages to choose from:
