At the beginning of 2017, after a decade of structural engineering, Lee Michetti was ready to immerse himself full time as a traditional artist. Lee is a self-taught and self-disciplined traditional artist who rigorously strives to improve with each succeeding piece of artwork he creates. Lee works primarily with oil paint or charcoal pencil as his medium.
Lee finds inspiration through the natural beauty of California and the expression of the human body. He strives to unite confident draftsmanship with both traditional and romantic style in each piece he creates. Lee often studies the works of John Singer Sargent, Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida, Anders Zorn, William Wendt, and Edgar Payne. His goal is to create pieces of artwork that evoke joy and wonder. The act of creation and the representation of beauty drive Lee's artistic passion.
Lee also welcomes commissions, specializing in both oil painting and charcoal drawing portraiture.
