Whether working in oils or acrylics Eric Peterson’s creative process consists of three stages. First he explores ideas and compositions through a series of sketches. This is a period of quiet, analytical thought. In the second stage, the beginning of the painting, Eric applies layers of paint in a random, intuitive way, allowing for those happy accidents. In the last stage he tries to bring order out of the chaos, focusing on form, color, texture and edges.
