My art has been described as “whimsical”. I enjoy color, contrast and texture. Mixing up mediums inspires me. I work in acrylics, pencil, collage and ink. I also make mosaics from expired credit cards, hotel card keys and driver’s licenses. The cut up pieces look like odd bits of tile that I can shape into images.
I got my professional start working with Artists in Cellophane. The requirement was 2”x3” original works of art that could be dispensed through repurposed cigarette machines. I painted wooden blocks featuring animals with improbable things perched on their heads. The “It’s Over Your Head” series was born. These are now sold in Studios on the Park gift shop.
I do a lot of commission work which I find satisfying. I try to include the client in some of the decision making as I think it affords participation and shares a little bit of the joy in creating something unique.
I love making art.
