“In love with color” describes artist Anne Laddon! With a strong, confident design sense developed over a lifelong art career, she creates landscapes and urban scenes with luscious thick color. “Like frosting a cake” Anne layers with brush and knife to create upbeat images in oil and pastel.
Anne has been a professional artist for 40 years, with a background in graphic design, printmaking and painting. She has designed and produced hundreds of limited edition serigraphs, lithographs, and posters. Her paintings have won numerous awards and are in collections around the world.
In the mid seventies in Alexandria, Virginia she was one of the founding artists of The Torpedo Factory Art Center where she had a printmaking studio. In 1984 she moved to California’s Central Coast opening a studio gallery in Cambria where she created limited editions, monotypes, and handmade paper. Anne continued to show in New York each year at the International Art Expo, as well as in several galleries. In 1990 she began to study oil painting and by the mid nineties was hooked on “plein air painting” which she continues today.
Anne is active in several local arts organizations. In 2007 Laddon founded Studios on the Park.
Passionate about the creative process and eager to share her knowledge Laddon teaches workshops, collaborates with arts groups, and creates from both her bunkhouse studio and at Studios on the Park.
