A Conversation With Author William J. Havlicek, PH.D.
Dr. Havlicek will focus on Vincent Van Gogh's short and tragic life that has been examined through many lenses, but this presentation is an original and unique look at the inspiration and motivation for his art contained in Van Gogh's astonishing letters, of which over 900 exist. Supported by his revealing book of the same title, Dr. Havlicek will discuss the powerful influences of literary giants Charles Dickens and Victor Hugo upon Van Gogh's paintings and his life. This lecture provides new insight into the artist's true character nurtured by his abiding faith, the influence of family, and the tender solicitude he felt for mankind.
