After several years of designing and creating hand painted silk scarves and wearable art, I found my new passion—weaving.
I have always been fascinated by the weaving process but didn’t know how or where to start. Fortunately I met a weaver at an art show who very kindly pointed me in the right direction. After watching numerous videos about hand weaving, I purchased my first loom—a rigid heddle loom—and got started weaving.
I was soon fascinated by all the various designs in the weaving world and as much as I loved working on my rigid heddle I knew I had to move on to a multi-shaft loom so I could weave all these wonderful designs. (Not to say you cannot weave gorgeous designs on a rigid heddle loom.)
One of the things I really loved about silk painting was the range of colors of the dyes I used to create my pieces. Weaving yarns do not disappoint when it comes to color and texture. I love the shimmer and shine of tencel and bamboo and the soft vibrant colors of alpaca, wool and “yes” silk! So many colors, textures and designs. Now instead of shelves of dyes my shelves are brimming with colorful yarns. What fun!
I invite you to join me on my journey through the weaving world as I develop new skills and new designs.
