Rod R. Aszman is primarily a self-taught artist who has painted in traditional oils for the last 43 years. He had his first art lesson when he was five years old from his grandmother, who was an accomplished artist in her time. His late mother was also an oil painter of great talent and they shared many ideas on painting techniques, color, and styles over the years.
In his artwork, Rod strives "to bring my knowledge of painting along with my memories to the forefront in a representational and painterly style when capturing the drama and atmosphere of the California Landscape and the Historical Railroad Scene."
