Margaret O’Bryan was born and raised in Southern California, and is the seventh of 14 children. All throughout her childhood and early adulthood, she enjoyed artwork of all types including drawing, painting, collage and making jewelry. This was put on hold when she married Mark, her loving spouse of almost 37 years, and started to raise a family. For 25 years, she operated her own medical transcription business, including training others. After retiring from that profession, it was time to pursue her artistic desires which took the form of jewelry making. This included taking classes online, and at bead shops in the Bay Area and locally to learn different techniques. She has exhibited and sold at Lucia Apothecary in Cambria for the past few years, shown at local craft shows, most recently, in Petaluma, CA at Crafterino, and is developing an etsy.com website.
As a maker of costume jewelry, she incorporates Art Nouveau and Victorian styles with intricate brass filigrees and findings, gemstones, vintage glass stones, buttons and Swarovski crystals. Designing her wearable art, she aims to achieve an element of class, romance, sparkle and whimsy which will accentuate the beauty of the woman wearing it.
